The required skills in applying for jobs includes writing a resume and preparing for job interviews. Before UOW I had already written a resume and created a list of possible interview questions, but I haven’t reviewed and updated them in over a year.
To learn more about resume writing and preparing for interviews, I attended workshops ‘Resumes: Crafting Your Story on Paper’ and ‘Interview: Ace the Conversation’. The ‘Resumes’ workshop reminded me of the sections that a successful resume needs and introduced me to CV360, an AI tool that provides instant and detailed feedback to help optimise a resume.
I submitted my unchanged resume to CV360, and it wasn’t within an acceptable resume percentage (71%). The problems with my resume according to CV360 included the education dates being out of order, spelling mistakes, grammar mistakes, no personal profile and that the resume was a PDF document. Thanks to this feedback I was able to fix most of my resume and get an acceptable percentage from CV360 (89%) (Figure 5).
I will continue updating and making changes to my resume so that I may get 100% on CV360 and be job ready.
